About Aubree
Aubree works with the full range of ages, from young children through adults, including couples and families. She is the only clinician at the practice who sees children under six.
She is a graduate of the accredited Training for Adoption Competency and has spent years walking alongside adoptive and foster families through her post-adoption work with Utah's Division of Child and Family Services. If your family was built through adoption or foster care she speaks the language.
She is trained in EMDR, TBRI, Motivational Interviewing and Mind-Body Bridging, and she facilitates Making Sense of Your Worth and Parenting for Positive Self Worth, programs that help both parents and kids build a stronger sense of themselves.
In Aubree's Words
“
For the last ten years I've worked inside Utah's child welfare system, first as a DCFS caseworker in Castle Dale and since 2020 as a post-adoption worker for the Western Region. I've sat at a lot of kitchen tables. Families who finalized an adoption two years ago and are surprised the hard part didn't end at the courthouse. Teens who were moved four times before they turned ten and don't see the point of trusting anyone new. Parents who love a kid and still dread 7pm. Grandparents raising a second round.
That's who I know how to help.
I'm trained in EMDR for the trauma underneath the behavior, and in TBRI, the model built for kids who come from hard places. I completed the Training for Adoption Competency, and I facilitate Making Sense of Your Worth and Parenting for Positive Self Worth. I also use Motivational Interviewing and Mind-Body Bridging.
You'll notice I say "trained in," not "certified." Those are different things and I'd rather you know exactly what I have. Before social work, I taught music to 400 kids at an elementary school in Helena, Arkansas, with Teach For America. It is still the best preparation I've had for a room full of ten-year-olds who don't want to be there.
I earned my MSW from Utah State University Eastern in 2020 and two bachelor's degrees, psychology and sociology, from the University of Utah. I'm a Certified Social Worker in Utah, practicing under the clinical supervision of Brian Austin, LCSW.
