About Emily

Emily has spent her career inside the hardest moments of young people's lives. She has been a licensed clinical social worker since 2012 and has led clinical services at Provo Canyon School for a decade, most recently as Chief Clinical Officer. She knows what real crisis looks like and she knows what real recovery looks like.

She is a Trauma Informed Care master trainer who teaches other professionals how to build environments where young people heal. She is trained in TBRI, the model built for children who came through foster care, adoption or a hard early start, along with EMDR and an advanced EMDR dissociation workshop.

At Healing Within she sees children, teens and adults for individual, couples and family work. She believes healing happens far beyond the therapy office, through everyday relationships and the culture around a person, and she helps families build exactly that.

Emily is also a Utah approved supervisor who mentors newer clinicians and clinical directors.

Her career began with Utah Juvenile Justice Services. She is especially passionate about helping people understand and regulate their emotions, develop practical coping skills, and build the resilience needed to navigate life’s challenges. She has trained and supported professionals across the country in building more trauma-informed environments and has presented on trauma, dissociation, treatment-resistant youth, and the mental health crisis facing teenage girls.

Outside of work, Emily loves laughing with family and friends, being outdoors, biking, reading, and traveling. She has explored plenty of the world, but she’s always on the lookout for her next beach vacation.

In Emily's Words

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 20 years of experience supporting adolescents, families, and behavioral healthcare professionals. My work includes complex trauma, suicidality, self-harm, high-acuity mental health challenges, and secondary trauma among those who care for others. I bring curiosity, warmth, transparency, kindness, and humor to help people understand the connection between their minds, bodies, and trauma responses. I believe therapy is a partnership grounded in safety, authenticity, and understanding. I want you to feel safe being your authentic self.

I believe connection is at the heart of healing, and I strive to create a therapeutic relationship built on trust, transparency, kindness, and genuine curiosity. I’m passionate about helping people understand how trauma can affect both the mind and body, including our emotions, behaviors, relationships, and nervous system. By using EMDR, DBT, CBT, Somatic interventions and other Trauma Informed modalities, we’ll explore these connections, build tools for regulation and resilience, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. My goal is for therapy to feel like a partnership where you feel seen, understood, and supported.
