Answers to Common Questions
Start with age and concern. Each therapist's page lists who they see and what they focus on. If you are still not sure, call us at (385) 582-9559 and we will match you based on what you are working through, your schedule and whether you want in person or telehealth sessions.
Yes. We accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, DMBA, EMI, PEHP, Select Health, UMR, United Healthcare and University of Utah plans, and TRICARE is coming soon. Participation varies by clinician, so we check your plan before your first session. Our self-pay rate is $150 for a 60 minute session.
You talk, we listen. Your therapist will ask what has been happening, what you have already tried and what you want to be different. Together you set a direction and a plan. Most people say it feels less like an interview and more like finally being heard.
Absolutely. The relationship between you and your therapist matters more than almost anything else in therapy. If it is not clicking, tell us. There is no awkwardness on our end and we will help you transition to another member of the team.
Yes. Every clinician offers telehealth across Utah except Amy Pollard, who sees clients in person. Everyone sees clients at our Provo office too. Tell us your preference when you call and we will match you accordingly.
Yes. Emily Scoffield, Brittany Taggart and Aubree Stock all work with children, and Aubree sees children under six. Kristen Morgan works with children from age 6, teens, and adults.
Therapists do not prescribe. If medication comes up it is a conversation to have with your physician or pediatrician, and it is always your decision. We are happy to coordinate with your prescriber.
If you are uninsured or paying out of pocket, federal law gives you the right to a written estimate of what your care will cost before it starts. Ask us for one and we will put it in writing.
Yes. Openings change week to week and differ by clinician. Most people start within a week or two of reaching out. Book a free 15-minute call and we will tell you who has time that fits your schedule.
Fill out your intake forms in the client portal, and have your insurance card ready. Our New Client Information page walks through every step, from the first call to paying for sessions.
Not right now. All of our clinicians provide therapy in English. If you or your family need a Spanish-speaking therapist, call us and we will help you find one in Utah County.
Yes. Every clinician at Healing Within is LGBTQ+ affirming. You will be treated with respect, and your identity will never be treated as something to fix.
Yes. We work with clients of every faith, including members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and clients with no religious background. If you want your beliefs to be part of your therapy, your therapist will include them. If you do not, they will not come up.
Yes. Brian Austin served 11 years in the Marine Corps before becoming a therapist, and our clinicians work with trauma, burnout and the weight that comes with high-stress work. We also run a burnout group for healthcare workers and first responders.
No. We do not provide psychological, ADHD or developmental testing. If testing would help, we will point you to someone who does it, and we can keep working with you in therapy.
Sometimes, for current clients, and case by case. Your therapist needs to know you well enough to write something accurate, so we do not write letters after a single visit. We do not do custody evaluations or court-ordered assessments.
No. We are an outpatient practice, and messages are read during business hours. If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, any hour of the day or night. In an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
