GETTING STARTED
New Clients
What happens after you reach out
Starting therapy is a big step, and the practical side should not be the hard part. Here is what happens after you reach out, and what to have ready.
Step 1: A free 15-minute call
Book a free call online or call (385) 582-9559. Tell us a little about what is going on, who the therapy is for, and what your week can hold. We check your insurance while you are on the line and tell you which clinician fits.
Step 2: Your client portal and forms
We use SimplePractice for our secure client portal. After we schedule your first session, you will get an email invitation to set up your portal account. Your intake forms and consent to treatment are there, along with a form to keep a card on file. Please finish them before your first session so your time with your therapist is not spent on paperwork.
For clients under 18, a parent or legal guardian completes and signs the forms. If custody is shared, bring any court paperwork that shows who can consent to treatment.
Step 3: Your first session
Sessions are 60 minutes, in person at 746 East 1910 South, Suite 4 in Provo, or by telehealth with every clinician except Amy. Parking is free in the lot, and Suite 4 is on the ground floor. For telehealth you will get a secure video link. Find a private, quiet spot with a good connection.
Your first session is mostly getting to know you: what brought you in, what you have already tried, and what you want to be different. You do not have to tell your whole story at once.
What to bring
Your insurance card. A list of any medications you take. Anything from a school, pediatrician or past therapist that you think would help. For children, any custody or guardianship paperwork.
Paying for sessions
Self-pay is $150 for a 60-minute session. With insurance, you pay your plan's copay or deductible amount, and we tell you that number before your first visit. Payment is due at the time of service, and every client keeps a card on file. We accept American Express, Discover, Mastercard, Visa, HSA cards and cash. If you are paying out of pocket, you can ask for a Good Faith Estimate and a superbill. See Rates & Insurance for which clinicians take which plans.
Cancellations and missed sessions
Please give at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and missed sessions are $75, and insurance does not pay for them.
Between sessions, and in a crisis
Messages sent through the portal or this website are read during business hours, usually within one to two business days. We are an outpatient practice and cannot respond to emergencies. If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, any hour of the day or night. In an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Your privacy
Your health information is protected by federal law (HIPAA) and Utah law. You will receive our Notice of Privacy Practices with your intake paperwork, and you can ask for a copy any time. Please do not send clinical details through our website form or regular email. Read our website privacy policy.
